The Challenge
Before rolling out to all rooms, the hotel wanted a sample room where the guest-room controls could be seen exactly as built. The decisions were concrete: the finish of the toggle plates, the icon set, and how the panels sit in relation to the furniture.
The door panel was tried in the same room. How the room number, do-not-disturb and make-up-room indicators read together was checked on site.
The Watt Works Solution
The toggle plates in the room's bronze finish, the switch mechanisms and the project drawings were brought together in the room. A panel with USB-C, a socket and toggle switches was mounted in the bedside niche, and a seven-toggle panel for master off, lighting groups and service calls on the entrance wall.
The function behind each toggle was matched icon by icon to the KNX-based room control. Once the layout, mounting height and icon set are approved in this room, the same arrangement will be the reference for the series rooms.
Engineering Highlights
- Room number, do-not-disturb and make-up-room indicators on the door panel
- USB-C, socket and reading-light toggles on the bedside panel
- Seven-toggle entrance panel for master off, lighting groups and service calls
- All toggle plates in the room's bronze finish
- Layout and icon set verified on site before the rooms go into series
